Organizers of the Sudbury Dragon Boat Festival are now looking for a two year commitment from a new charity partner for the 2010 festival. The charity partner must be a Canadian charity that supports Northern Ontario residents through a local chapter or branch office. The charity must have a Revenue Canada charitable tax number, issue its own tax receipts and provide a pledge coordinator or administrative person to assist the festival with the fund raising aspect. The organization should not be self supporting, should not be an umbrella organization or an organization primarily concerned with a religious, moral or political purpose. The festival is hoping to partner with an organization that can assist with the provision of volunteers and help build a positive community profile for the event.

The deadline for applications is October 30, 2009. All applications will be reviewed by a charity panel. The charities that are short listed will be invited to make a ten minute presentation to the panel. The panel will make its recommendations to the Executive Committee of the Sudbury Dragon Boat Festival and an announcement regarding the charity of choice will be made at a later date.
